The AINDT Covid Policy

Category: AINDT News

We all have a duty under the model Work Health and Safety (WHS) laws to eliminate, or if that is not reasonably practicable, minimise the risks of COVID-19 in the workplace, so far as is reasonably achievable.

Individual employers also have a duty to consult workers regarding COVID-19 risks and how these risks are to be managed. This includes the introduction of workplace policies relating to vaccination, with many employers and workplaces already mandating compulsory vaccination.

Whilst the AINDT does not aim to mandate any form of political or medical policies upon its members and/or Certificate holders, the AINDT strongly encourages all its members and Certificate holders to consider getting fully vaccinated. Using this government approved vaccination pathway will help stem the spread and effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which will eventually lead to an open border Australia once again.

The AINDT Federal Office has a 100% compulsory COVID vaccination policy meaning.

  1. All AINDT staff members must be fully vaccinated.
  2. Any visitors to the AINDT Federal Office will need to be fully vaccinated prior to attending the office for any reason.
  3. The AINDT will mandate full vaccination for any members who attend face to face AINDT meetings such as Federal Council, General Meetings and Annual General Meeting.
  4. All branches will be requested to ensure that any
    1. face-to-face member events will comply with this policy.
  5. Events physically attended by members and visitors; Proof of vaccination / legal exemptions may need to be verified before entry is permitted.
  6. Candidates attending Training or Examinations will need to meet the requirements of the AQB and the applicable statutory authority.

If any individual cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons, an approved medical exemption certificate shall be provided. Additional control measures to minimise the risks of COVID-19 for any individual may require an approved test result provided prior to entry of any event. (polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests or similar).

Given the transient nature of the NDT & CM industry, we strongly support that a mandated COVID-19 vaccination program will assist control the spread of the pandemic.
