Benefits of becoming an Individual Member of the AINDT

The AINDT is dedicated to representing its members who work in a number of diverse industries in which non-destructive testing plays a vital role. These include metal fabrication, welding, construction, power, oil & gas, transport, defence, mining, timber, pipelines & many others.

As a career, non-destructive testing can be as varied as testing complex node welds on a drilling rig to the intricate inspection of critical components in an aircraft. It can also mean the construction of a pipeline, or crawling through a dirty boiler to do thickness testing on boiler tubes affected by erosion. Whatever the task, the spirit that it engenders through being a part of the NDT community is no better expressed than by being part of the membership of the Institute itself.

So why become a member?
  • Some would see it as a means of achieving a cheaper route to certification.
  • Whilst others would see AINDT as an organisation that meets their needs in terms of upholding the standing that the NDT profession has in the community.
  • The Institute, needs a strong membership base to ensure it remains relevant in the ever-changing technical world of the future.

“Therefore, we do need members such as yourself. To either join us or if already an existing member, to stay with us & to encourage others to join & be a part of that journey”.

What’s in it for you?
  • It is something more than just achieving certification & deciding to opt out after a year. Because, being a part of the AINDT offers many things that will assist you in your endeavours to gain knowledge & to become skilled in your profession.
  •  For the modest cost of your subscription fees, membership provides:

1.    The official journal of the AINDT
“Non-Destructive Testing Australia” : This journal is recognised as one of the leading publications of its type & is packed with information on the latest technical developments  NDT, Condition Monitoring & many others.
Plus the latest in equipment, training & international news.
2.    Access to our members only section of the Institutes  website www.aindt.com.au  which will provide up to date details of the activities of  AINDT.
3.    “The Institute provides a world recognised certification scheme”
Which is in accordance with ISO 9712 & is one of the few outside of Europe to be recognised by the European
Federation of  Non-Destructive Testing (EFNDT).
4.    The Institute maintains a list of certificated members that is published through the website. This list is a valuable reference point for employers & end users of NDT in assessing current qualifications of NDT staff.
( Non-financial members of the Institute are not included in this list).
5.    The Institute maintains a quality assurance system, which is accredited by JAS/ANZ in order to meet its international accreditation requirements.
6.    National Conferences are held regularly, in which members are encouraged to attend & participate in the technical papers as well as the “Social Activities” which are always well attended.
7.    The Institute is part of  the “Asia Pacific Committee for NDT” (APCNDT) & plays a mentoring role within the region.
8.    During the year, a number of prizes & awards are made to members to recognise achievements in support of the world of NDT.
9.    Following AINDT examinations, awards are made to member candidates who display Meritorious Achievements in examinations.

“Besides the foregoing, membership of the Institute offers many other things that are not readily apparent”.
  •  It is a professional body with a professional Secretariat, which has the approach to ensure that it is well run & meets the highest standards of ethics & financial accountability.
  •  It offers all of its members the opportunity to take part in its activities. Members by participating are able to achieve representation at Branch level but also  on the “Federal Council & Federal Executive” & therefore play a constructive part in the decision making process.
  • If you are content to just be a member, then you can be assured that the duly elected representatives are working quietly away at all times to safeguard your interests.

“The AINDT would therefore like to welcome you as a new or continuing member & trust that this will be part of a long-term relationship that will support your interests in furthering your career in the Non Destructive Testing industry”.
